Eccentrically Loaded Weld Group: ONLINE COEFFICIENT CALCULATOR

Here is a Javascript version of the Eccentrically Loaded Weld Group spreadsheet which I originally implemented in Microsoft Excel. I share the spreadsheet, available for free download, here, at Fillet Weld Coefficient Calculator Spreadsheet Free Download (Version 2.0). I also have posted an earlier version of the same spreadsheet at AISC Steel Tools website almost a decade ago.

Sometime in 2014, a reader asked me if it is possible for me to implement the 'Fillet Weld Coefficient Calculator Spreadsheet' as USER DEFINED FUNCTION in Microsoft Excel environment -- similar to the one I posted at Eccentrically Loaded Bolt Group: Analysis and Design using 'INSTANTANEOUS CENTER of ROTATION METHOD' with VBA for Excel Implementation. I knew it could be done, but my reply then was in negative. The reasons were the complexity of the code and the speed by which the code (in Microsoft Excel VBA) returns the result. It would always cause your Microsoft Excel to crash.


However, about four years later, I had a different idea in mind. Why not convert the code to javascript and make it run within my blogpost? Yeah, I found it an interesting idea. So, in less than a week, I was able to re-write and re-structure the VBA code to javascript. And finally, having been jobless for almost a quarter of a year now, I now feel somewhat productive and re-connected to my previous job.

It was amazing and interesting to note that running the same program in Web Browser written in javascript turns out to be about 10 times the speed as compared to running the program in Microsoft Excel environment written in VBA.

Warning:
Running this program may cause your web browser to slow down. This may happen for some input combinations associated with non-zero eccentricity. When this happens, however, you will be prompted with a message by your web browser whether or not to stop running the script. You may also opt to press Ctrl+Break key combination to force-stop the script.
